The works of Henri Dutilleux lead rather a shadowy existence in the music world. Unjustly so, as shown by his Correspondances for soprano and orchestra, premièred in 2003 by the Berliner Philharmoniker under Sir Simon Rattle. In February 2012, this virtually fully Romantic-sounding work was heard again in the Philharmonie. The soloist was the versatile Canadian soprano Barbara Hannigan – long familiar on the stage of the Berlin Philharmonie as a specialist in contemporary music. In our bonus video, Barbara Hannigan and Jonathan Kelly, Principle Oboe with the Berliner Philharmoniker, talk about the concert programme.
